Weekly recap: January 27th-31st
Girls' Basketball
Week 11 of the Lady Chargers season featured 3 conference games in a row, including a senior night game to wrap up the regular season. Tuesday, January 28th, the girls went on the road against Marsing. A dominant performance gave the girls a 68-29 win over the Huskies. The next day, the girls travelled up to McCall to play a game that had been cancelled due to weather earlier this year. They put up another victory by a score of 57-32. Then, to finish off the season, the girls faced off against Nampa Christian at home in the senior night game. The girls played a solid game and came away with a nice 44-34 victory. They wrapped up their season 17-4 overall and 10-2 in conference. They look as ready as ever to head into districts and hopefully move on to the state tournament.
The Lady Chargers secured the 2 seed in the Western Idaho Conference. The District tournament will start on Tuesday, February 4th. The girls will have a 1st round bye. The girls look to make it to the state tournament for the 7th year in a row.
Boys' Basketball
The Boys Varsity Basketball team entered the 9th week of their season 6-8 on the year and 3-3 in conference play. They had two matchups this week. One at home against Vision Charter on Wednesday, January 29th, and the other on the road against New Plymouth, who they lost to on a buzzer beater a few weeks ago. They boys crushed Vision Charter, 61-26, putting them at 4-3 in conference. Unfortunately, they lost to New Plymouth by 1 point for the second time this year, in a well-played 42-41 loss. They are now 4-4 in conference and still the 5th seed. They look to rebound this week with a home matchup against McCall, and a road game against Melba.
The Boys have 2 weeks left in their regular season. In those 2 weeks they have 4 conference games, 2 on the road and 2 home. With the regular season coming to an end they look to get ready for the district tournament which starts Tuesday, February 18th.
