Weekly Recap: January 13th-17th
The Boys' Varsity Basketball team squared off against Melba earlier this week. Their 64-55 win improved them to 5-6 overall standing. The boys then played Marsing on Friday. Unfortunately, a tough loss by a score of 45-34 now puts them at 5-7 on the year. On a positive note, Jackson Baker has returned from a knee injury that kept him out for about 3 weeks.
The boys are now in 5th place in the conference at 2-2. They may be able to move up a few spots this next week with matchups against McCall-Donnelly and Nampa Christian. Currently, they are sitting right in the middle of the conference standings. With eight games left, their playoff positioning could vary, but will likely be anywhere from the 3 seed to 5 seed in the conference.
The Boys' game at McCall on January 11th was cancelled due to weather. The game has been rescheduled for January 21st at 7:30 pm. The boys have eight games left in the regular season.
The Girls' Varsity Basketball team took on Vision Charter and thumped them 54-11. The girls kept on rolling and beat New Plymouth 50-34 taking them to a 13-3 record overall. The girls are now 2nd in the conference with a 6-1 record. With games against McCall-Donnelly and Marsing next week they look to improve that record and keep their good season going.
The girls were supposed to play at McCall on January 11th. Unfortunately, weather conditions kept them from being able to travel to McCall. The game has been rescheduled for January 29th. The change in schedule now has them playing three conference games in a row to end the regular season.
The girls are now halfway through conference play. With 6 games left they are likely to be a 1 or 2 seed heading into the district tournament. If the Girls continue to play well, they will likely get a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Now, the girls are down to the last 2 weeks of their regular season.
