Thursday, January 30th, the Cole Valley Girls' Varsity Basketball team took on Nampa Christian at home in their last game of the regular season. Being the last home game of the year, the game was designated as senior night to honor the 6 seniors on the Girls’ team. Cole Valley started off the game strong going up 9-0 in the first 4 minutes of the quarter. Nampa Christian opened their scoring with a 3 pointer. However, Cole Valley’s Desirae Kingery responded quickly with a layup making it 11-3. Nampa Christian put up another 2 points and the quarter ended 11-5. Nampa Christian opened the second quarter with a layup. They were fouled in the process and made the extra point making it 11-8. Then, Emma Scudder with a layup made it 15-8. Nampa Christian then made jump shot bringing the score to 15-10. Cole Valley then answered with 5 points going up 20-10. Then, Nampa Christian with a layup off a fast break made it 20-12. Cole Valley quickly tacked on another 8 points taking a healthy lead of 28-12 with only one-minute left in the half. Nampa Christian quickly put up 5 points before the end of the half. The half ended 28-17 Cole Valley in the lead.
Ellie Fraas started the second half scoring with a layup to give Cole Valley a 30-17 lead. Cole Valley continued to add to their lead, going up 34-19. Nampa Christian then tacked on 5 more points in the last minute of the quarter cutting the lead to 34-24. The 3rd quarter ended with Cole Valley up 34-24. Lyndsie Krogh hit a 3 to start off the 4th quarter. Nampa Christian responded by going 4 for 4 on free throws to make it 37-28. Cole Valley with a jump shot and put back made it 41-28, but Nampa Christian responded with a 3 and a few free throws making it 41-33. With less than 2 minutes the girls put up 3 more points sealing the win 44-34. The girls finished the regular season with a dominant senior night win. They look to continue this success in their upcoming district tournament.
