On Saturday night the Cole Valley girls’ basketball team played in their first post season game, the district semi-finals against the New Plymouth Pilgrims. The girls started the game off with a bang, ending the first quarter 17-2. From there the girls maintained a good lead to half time, ending with 21-6. The third and fourth quarter were not quite as dominant, but the lead was never less than 9 points. The girls fought hard even in the fourth, with a final score of 38-22. This win guarantees the girls a spot in the state tournament!
The high scorers of the game were Sophomore guard Ellie Fraas with 12 points, Senior post Maddie Cooke with 10 points, and Sophomore guard Lyndsie Krogh with 8 points. The lead rebounders were Cooke with 9, Fraas with 6, and a tie for third between Krogh and Senior forward Khoury, with 5 rebounds apiece. The leader in steals was Fraas with a whopping 6 steals, followed by Khoury with 3.
The girls are now in the district championship on Thursday night at 7:45 against the melba mustangs at Vallivue. Melba and the Chargers are 1-1, so it will be a good game! Come out on Thursday night and support your charger’s girls’ basketball team in the championship!
