The 2019 Charger football season got off to a great start Friday night with a shutout win in the opening game as the boys took down the Payette pirates 62-0. Making a statement to the rest of the conference, the boys came out strong with 21 unanswered points in the first quarter. They went off in the second, with 4 more touchdowns, bringing the score at halftime to 49-0. The boys let off the gas a little bit in the second half but still finished off a stout performance with a 62-0 final.
If the Payette Pirates were burned to the ground, Senior Obi Gee lit the match with an impressive three touchdowns, putting the first points of the game on the board. Senior Connor Howard also scored on two passes from Sophomore quarterback Carter Fortin, who threw for 4 touchdowns in the game. Seniors Garret Kranz, Brady Frame, Will Stevens, and Junior Anthony Hill all scored one touchdown apiece. The boys defense was just as strong, never relenting, resulting in an impressive shutout, with sacks, interceptions and forced fumbles along the way.
With a start to the season like this, the team will have big things coming their way!The boys will be back in action next Saturday, September 7th at 3 PM against Wendell at Eagle High School. Come out and support Charger Football, you don’t want to miss all the action!
