This past week, the Chargers suffered another one-point loss to the Pilgrims. The first game ended with a buzzer-beater three that sent the Chargers home frustrated and ready for a rematch. Unfortunately, New Plymouth battled and won in a well-played game.
The boys were down multiple players and struggled to gain momentum in the first quarter. The quarter ended with a few made layups and free throws, 17-6, Pilgrim lead.
In the second quarter, the Chargers continued to make it to the line and scored with much more consistency, ending the first half 21-17, four points behind the Pilgrims.
For the final two quarters, the Chargers fought to close the gap. Third quarter ended 33-28, with the Chargers behind by 5. In the fourth quarter, the boys began to get to the line more and made their free throws. The Chargers soon took the lead, but keeping it was the challenge.
With a four point lead and ninety seconds left, the Chargers fought. Unfortunately, the Pilgrims made a three, bringing the score to 40-41, Chargers, with a minute-fifteen left. The boys made it to the line twice for bonus shots, but missed both free throws and giving the possession to the Pilgrims on a rebound. With five seconds left, the Chargers sent a Pilgrim to the line in bonus. He made both free throws, cementing the lead at 42-41. The boys were unable to score on last-second efforts.

Steele led with 10, DeMain with 8, and Gill/Smith with 7 apiece.
